Step 9 of 9 · Paying by pre-authorized debit

Debits and requests

Debits and requests: each debit with its day, amount and status, from Scheduled to Paid. Tell the centre before the date if one is not right.

Watch out: A debit your bank sends back reads "Returned by the bank": the invoice is owed again and is not debited again: you get an Interac request instead. A returned payment fee, if the centre lists one, comes on a new invoice.

Your bank, account ending 8901, and Debits and requests: the debit on its day, for the amount owed, Scheduled.

More about this

The statuses: Scheduled, Sent to the bank, Paid, Did not go through, Returned by the bank, Cancelled; an Interac request is Declined or Expired when it was not paid. You may dispute a debit with your bank within 90 days.

An Interac request is paid from your own online banking. Interac needs the name on the bank account to be yours: pay from your own account, or ask the centre to make the account holder a payer.

Your child's centre or agency may use other words for people and its own policies; the screens are the same. The screen is from KeepCount 0.99.171, captured October 30, 2026 in a demonstration organization: everyone in it is fictional. Section numbers are O. Reg. 137/15 (General) under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, read on e-Laws on October 23, 2026. This explains how KeepCount works; it is not legal advice, and the Ministry's program advisors decide compliance.
