Step 20 of 26 · Your first week
Report an incident
Anything that affected a child's or a staff member's health, safety or well-being: tap "Report an incident" when it happens. A missing child, right away.
Watch out: Tell the supervisor at once, then record. The office makes the serious-occurrence report to the Ministry from your record and your call.

More about this
The regulation requires a daily written record with a summary of any such incident (O. Reg. 137/15, s. 37(1)) and, for a child's incident, that a parent is notified unless already told of it under s. 36 (s. 37(2)). A serious occurrence (among them the death of a child, abuse or neglect, a life-threatening injury or illness, a missing or temporarily unsupervised child, or an unplanned disruption of normal operations) must be reported to the Ministry within 24 hours of the licensee or supervisor becoming aware of it (s. 38); that is the office's job.
Under the incidents you recorded, "Follow-ups given to you" lists the corrective actions the office asked of you, with "Mark done".
Your centre's words for people and its policies may differ; the screens are the same. The screen is from KeepCount 0.99.144, captured October 27, 2026 in a demonstration organization: everyone in it is fictional. Section numbers are O. Reg. 137/15 (General) under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, read on e-Laws on October 20, 2026. This explains how KeepCount works; it is not legal advice, and the Ministry's program advisors decide compliance.
