Log a home visit

"Log a visit": the provider, the date, the type (initial, quarterly, follow-up, other), the visitor, the children present, and whether it was without notice.

Watch out: A draft counts toward the quarter only once signed off, by the quarter's last day; it is kept on this device for seven days.

More about this

The premises, including the outdoor play space, must be inspected before it is used for home child care (s. 26(1)); KeepCount treats that initial inspection as separate from the quarterly ones. A quarterly inspection counts only when made without prior notice to the provider ("Yes", or "No, it was announced"). Below the facts of the visit: the Ministry's checklist, what was found with the date to put each right, concerns found, and the action taken or agreed with dates. A draft is kept on this device for seven days ("Restore the draft") and counts toward the quarter only once signed off, by the quarter's last day; the completed checklist can also be attached as a PDF or a photo.

Your agency's words for people and its policies may differ; the screens are the same. The screen is from KeepCount 0.99.162, captured October 29, 2026 in a demonstration organization: everyone in it is fictional. Section numbers are O. Reg. 137/15 (General) under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, read on e-Laws on October 20, 2026. This explains how KeepCount works; it is not legal advice, and the Ministry's program advisors decide compliance.
