About

From an accounting firm that has sat beside child care operators since 2001

KeepCount is made by Ghayur Accounts and Tax Services (GATS), a family accounting and bookkeeping firm in Mississauga, Ontario. GATS has done the books, payroll and corporate and personal tax for Ontario child care centres and home child care agencies for more than two decades, and their CWELCC reconciliations, operating budgets and viability templates since the program began.

A note from the founder

For twenty-five years our clients have included licensed child care operators. I do not see their binders; I see their books, their payroll and their CWELCC reconciliations, and that is where the cost of licensing paperwork shows up: owner and supervisor hours spent keeping records in order, hours that should go to the program and the children.

The records themselves are not hard. There are just a lot of them, they are kept by different people in different places, and the regulation is specific about dates in a way a binder is not. Accounting solved this problem long ago: record each transaction once, at the moment it happens, and the statements assemble themselves. KeepCount applies the same idea to licensing records.

It is built with the people who use it, read line by line against the regulation on e-Laws, and hosted in Canada. It does not decide compliance; the Ministry does that. It means that when the program advisor asks, the answer is already in the binder.

Not the Ministry
KeepCount is not a product of, endorsed by or connected to the Ontario Ministry of Education. The requirement library quotes the regulation and the licensing manuals, both public documents, and is dated with the consolidation it was read against.

How the content is kept honest

Read against e-Laws
Every requirement in the library and every guide in Learn carries the date it was last checked against the consolidated O. Reg. 137/15 on e-Laws and the section it rests on. When the regulation changes, the date changes with it.
Renderings, not stock photos
The screens on this site are drawn from the fictional Demo Child Care Centre. There are no photographs of children on this site, and KeepCount never asks for one.
Plain about limits
The product pages say what KeepCount does today. If something is planned but not built, it is not on the page.
